Chu Condemns Brutal Attack at Camp Ashraf, Calls for Immediate Release of Hostages
(Washington, DC) – U.S. Rep. Judy Chu (CA-32) today issued the flowing statement regarding last week’s attack on Camp Ashraf.
“Last week’s Camp Ashraf massacre at the hands of the Iraqi Army, which left 300 injured and 34 killed, is unconscionable and must be condemned in the strongest terms by the international community. This senseless act of violence is unacceptable, and I call for the immediate release of hostages taken captive in this brutal attack.”
Camp Ashraf houses members of the People’s Mujahedeen Organization of Iran, or MEK. The MEK is one of the strongest opposition groups to the Iranian regime, standing against violence and for democracy in Iran. Camp Ashraf is located in Iraq, north of Baghdad and approximately 75 miles west of the Iranian border.
