WASHINGTON, D.C. — Rep. Judy Chu (CA-28) and Sen. Chris Coons (DE) reintroduced the National Origin-Based Antidiscrimination for Nonimmigrants (NO BAN) Act, which would prevent future bans by the Trump administration on people of Islamic faith, or any other religious group, by strengthening the Immigration and Nationality Act to prohibit discrimination based on religion.

WASHINGTON, D.C. —  On January 20, 2025, President Trump signed an Executive Order entitled “Protecting the Meaning and Value of American Citizenship,” which prohibits federal agencies including the Departments of State, Justice, and Homeland Security from recognizing  the citizenship of individuals who do not have at least one parent who is either a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.

PASADENA, CA — Today, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced it was exercising its five-year option period extending the contract for the GEO Group-owned Adelanto ICE Processing Center in Adelanto, California, through December 19, 2029. While the facility will remain open, it’s still under a court-ordered intake prohibition that has been in place since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020.

WASHINGTON, D.C. Today, President Biden announced that the Biden-Harris Administration was removing the prohibition on Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA) recipients’ eligibility for health care coverage in the Affordable Care Act exchanges.

Since the overturning of Roe v. Wade in June 2022, abortion laws and access to care have varied substantially from state to state.
