Rep. Chu Announces Winners of the 14th Annual Artistic Discovery Congressional Art Competition

April 20, 2023

PASADENA, CA – On Thursday, April 13, 2023, Rep. Judy Chu (CA-28) announced the winners of her 14th annual Artistic Discovery Competition, with Larissa Cheung of Temple City High School earning top honors.

The nationwide Congressional Art Competition, now in its 42nd year, is sponsored by Members of Congress to promote and recognize the artistic achievements of high school students. Winners are selected by a committee of judges that consider style, technique, originality, and creativity. The winning work will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol building for a year with other winning pieces from around the country while other selections will be hung in Rep. Chu's Washington, DC, and district offices. All the winners will also receive scholarships

"I am so proud to continue the tradition of recognizing talented young artists by hosting my 14th Annual Artistic Discovery Competition," said Rep. Chu. "This is truly a special moment because it's so important to recognize the incredible young artists we have in the San Gabriel Valley. As seen from the remarkable art gallery, these young artists have all used art to tackle challenging problems, speak about difficult emotions, and to inspire each and every one of us to pursue a better version of ourselves."
