Rep. Chu Holds Press Conference and Town Hall on Proposed National Recreation Area

Claremont, CA – Today, Representative Judy Chu (CA-27) hosted a press conference and town hall meeting on the proposed San Gabriel National Recreation Area. Rep. Chu released the following statement:

“The push to make the San Gabriel Watershed and Mountains into a National Recreation Area began as a local effort, and I am committed to keeping it that way,” said Rep. Chu. “The opportunity to hear directly from the people most impacted by an NRA designation was invaluable, as was the chance to answer their concerns. I will keep this an open and inclusive process as I begin drafting legislation to bring this ten-year project to fruition.”

Since arriving in Congress, Rep. Chu has continued the effort that Representative Solis began ten years ago. Since the release of the San Gabriel Watershed and Mountains Special Resource Study in April, she has held roundtable discussions with stakeholder groups, publicly accessible conference calls, a telephone town hall with thousands of constituents, and the public town hall meeting that took place today.
