Rep. Chu Hosts 2014 Women of Distinction Awards

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Judy Chu (D-CA) hosted her 5th Annual Women of Distinction Awards to celebrate exceptional contributions of women leaders from throughout California’s 28th Congressional District. The 27th District encompasses 16 cities and a woman leader from each city was chosen through a nomination process. Rep. Chu released the following statement:

“Our nation has a history of taking strides thanks to women willing to lead. Today we celebrate 16 women who have embraced that notion whole-heartedly, and are making our communities the wonderful places that they are to call home. From small businesses owners to volunteers to local officials, the leadership they provide does more than improve lives today – you set an example and ensure there will be future leaders to do the same tomorrow.”

This year’s honorees are:

Adele Andrade-Stadler – Board Member, Alhambra Unified School District

Dr. Sandra Thomas – CEO, Quality of Life Foundation

Sandy Ho – Executive Vice President, Preferred Bank

Serena Burnett – Owner, Legal Edge

Monica Argandoña – Southern California Conservation Director, California Wilderness Coalition

Nikki Vitale – Owner, Fiorina

Donna Baker – Real Estate Agent

Chau Hua – Volunteer Director, Prajna Buddhist Mission

Tracey Cooper-Harris – Armed Services Veteran

Polly Low – Mayor of Rosemead

Denise Menchaca – Board Member, San Gabriel Unified School District

Dr. Grace Huang – Doctor

Amy Putnam – President, Sierra Madre Historical Preservation Society

Dr. Marina Khubesrian – Mayor of the City of South Pasadena

Lucy Liou – Safety Volunteer

Sandy Forney – Owner, Impressions Catering
