Rep. Chu Joins the House Budget Committee for 119th Congress
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Rep. Judy Chu (CA-28) announced her appointment to the House Budget Committee that is responsible for overseeing the federal budget process and setting the nation’s fiscal priorities. This includes drafting budget resolutions, overseeing the budget reconciliation process, reviewing federal spending and economic policies, and ensuring fiscal responsibility. The lead Democrat on the committee is Ranking Member Rep. Brendan Boyle (PA-02).
“The House Budget Committee plays a critical role in shaping the financial direction of our nation. As the Trump-Vance Administration and MAGA Republicans in Congress push policies that raise costs for hardworking Americans, they’re giving billionaires like Trump’s biggest donor, Elon Musk, unfettered access to our government’s sensitive data systems and preparing to pass tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy. I will stand firm with Ranking Member Boyle and my Democratic colleagues on the Budget Committee to protect the interests of real working families,” said Rep. Chu. “I am honored to once again serve on this Committee and will work to strengthen the communities in my district and across the nation—focusing on critical areas such as education, healthcare, lower costs, and public safety. Together, House Democrats will support policies that drive economic growth, protect hardworking families, and create a fair, sustainable future that benefits everyone—not just Trump’s ultra-wealthy donors and friends.”
“Rep. Chu is a tireless advocate for the middle class, and as Republicans prepare to force their extremist agenda through the Budget Committee, I’m excited to have her in the fight alongside us,” said Ranking Member Boyle. “Together, we’re ready to stand up to Republican attempts to pass more tax giveaways for the ultra-rich and rig the economy against working families.”
