Rep. Chu Statement on 15th Anniversary of September 11th
PASADENA, CA – Rep. Judy Chu (CA-27) released the following statement in honor of the 15th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks:
“Tomorrow marks 15 years since thousands of lives and the course of our country were changed forever. In an instant, the most horrific acts of terrorism on our country’s soil made us question our sense of security as we never had before. Nobody can forget where they were that day, and neither can we forget the lessons of that day. Because as horrific as the tragedy was, it also drew us closer as family, friends, neighbors, and strangers reached out to each other in unity and comfort. When we vow to never forget the events of September 11th, we vow not only to remember those who died, but to also remember the sense of unity that we are one country – the same country that began clearing rubble and rebuilding lives even as we were still mourning.
“Remembering must also mean teaching, so that the generations who follow us will know that September 11th was more than video and pictures, it was an experience we lived as a country and continue to live today. It was terror, it was uncertainty, it was anger. But it was also courage, resolve, and perseverance. Our response to 9/11 shaped us even as it brought out the best in us.”
