Rep. Chu Statement on Southern California Wildfires
PASADENA, CA — Today, Rep. Judy Chu (CA-28) issued a statement on the ongoing wildfire crisis in Southern California, including the Eaton fire in her congressional district:
“My heart is heavy this morning seeing the devastation across Southern California, and my thoughts are with the families whose homes, businesses, and schools have been destroyed or are in the path of the wildfires ravaging our region. Right now, my top priority is assisting people in my district impacted by the Eaton Fire to safety and supporting our heroic first responders who are working around the clock. I’m imploring everyone in the wildfires’ paths to listen to local emergency officials, prepare to evacuate, and follow evacuation orders when given. For residents seeking safe shelter, the Pasadena Convention Center and Arcadia Community Center are open for refuge.
“I’m remaining in close contact with federal, state, and local officials, and I appreciate the Biden-Harris Administration’s swift approval of a Fire Management Assistance Grant to reimburse California for immediate firefighting costs. My office stands ready to assist in any and all response and recovery efforts today and into the future. I urge my constituents to reach out to my office when it is safe to do so for assistance accessing support and resources in this time of immense need.”
