Rep. Chu Votes to Vacate the Speaker's Office
October 3, 2023
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, the U.S. House of Representatives considered a motion to vacate the Office of the Speaker of the House. It passed 216-210.
Rep. Judy Chu (CA-28) released the following statement:
"The Speaker wasn't fit to serve in January. He's only debased himself since. From acting as chief enabler of the disgraced former president to violating the bipartisan budget agreement he made with President Biden, he is an untrustworthy negotiator and an unacceptable leader of the People's House. I therefore voted to oust him."
