Reps. Chu and Collins Remember Former Congressman Howard Coble

November 5, 2015

WASHINGTON, DC – Reps. Judy Chu (CA-27) and Doug Collins (GA-09), co-chairs of the Creative Rights Caucus, released the following statement on the passing of former Congressman Howard Coble (NC-6):

Rep. Judy Chu:

“I am so sad at the loss of my friend Howard Coble. As any of the constituents he proudly served for over 30 years could tell you, he was a kind and warm man who put public service above politics. I was honored to be able to work and collaborate with him as co-founders of the Creative Rights Caucus where I got to experience his humor, hard work, and great love of bluegrass music. Howard had a well-earned reputation for treating everyone he met with his trademark warmth, and was eager to talk to anybody about his latest tennis game. My thoughts are with his family and all who knew and loved him.”

Rep. Doug Collins:

“Howard Coble was a dear friend, and a true gentleman. He had a love for people, and it was a privilege to serve with him on the Judiciary Committee. His work founding the Creative Rights Caucus was important for so many people, and Rep. Chu and I are honored to be able to continue what he started. He was always eager to share the joy that bluegrass music brought him, and his charm and cheerful disposition will be remembered well by his colleagues here in the House. My thoughts are with his family during the time of his passing, and I hope they will find comfort in the many people who loved and respected him.”
