Gonzalez, Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus Chair Judy Chu and Congressional Black Caucus Chair Emanuel Cleaver today denounced Republican efforts to terminate the Election Assistance Commission, the agency Congress created in the wake of the debacle in Florida during the 2000 Presidential Election. The Election Assistance Commission (EAC) was created by the Help America Vote Act, which Whip Hoyer was the lead co-sponsor of in the House.

EL MONTE, CA – Rep. Judy Chu, D-Calif., announced the winners of her second annual Artistic Discovery Congressional Art Competition during a special ceremony at City of Hope in Duarte last Saturday.

The Artistic Discovery program began in 1982 to provide an opportunity for members of Congress to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of their young constituents. The competition is open to high schoolers of all ages. Since its inception, over 650,000 high school students have participated in the nation-wide competition.
