The America Invents Act reforms an outdated patent system that had not been touched for nearly 60 years. Rep. Washington, D.C.- Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer, Elections Subcommittee Ranking Member and Congressional Hispanic Caucus Chair Charles A. Gonzalez, Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus Chair Judy Chu and Congressional Black Caucus Chair Emanuel Cleaver today denounced Republican efforts to terminate the Election Assistance Commission, the agency Congress created in the wake of the debacle in Florida during the 2000 Presidential Election. The Election Assistance Commission (EAC) was created by the Help America Vote Act, which Whip Hoyer was the lead co-sponsor of in the House.
