PASADENA, CA — Today, the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) announced the reduction of its workforce by 530 employees, or 8 percent of its total staff, through layoffs. These layoffs come after JPL exhausted measures to adjust to a lower budget directive from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in the absence of a FY2024 appropriation from Congress.

MONTEREY PARK, CA — Sunday, January 21, 2024, will mark one year since a gunman entered Star Dance Studio in Monterey Park, California, and opened fire, murdering 11 individuals and seriously wounding 9 others. The shooter then went on to Lai Lai Ballroom in Alhambra, attempted to enter and continue his killing spree, and was only stopped by the heroic actions of Brandon Tsay, who saved countless lives that day.
