Washington, DC – Today, the House of Representatives voted to pass the Senate amendment to H.R. 2617, the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023, which provides $1.7 trillion to fund the federal government through fiscal year 2023. This statement comes after the Congresswomen marched from the House steps to the Senate yesterday alongside advocates to demand a vote on the House-passed H.Res.17, legislation to eliminate the arbitrary deadline to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA).

Washington, D.C. — Yesterday, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced final regulations to repeal the cruel Trump-era public charge policy which forced immigrant families to choose between their immigration status and accessing programs and services for their own health and well-being The Biden Administration's final rule not only clarifies what is and is not considered in a public charge determination, it also confirms that eligible immigrant families can use health care, nutrition, and housing programs without concerns for their immigration status.

Judy Chu (CA-27) held her annual Congressional Leadership of the Year Awards Ceremony to honor local leaders and groups in the San Gabriel Valley who have contributed to their communities through service and leadership. The Congressional Leadership of the Year Awards is an annual event recognizing the diverse leadership and volunteerism in the cities making up California's 27th Congressional District. Each of the awardees were selected from nominations submitted by members of their community.

"Bobby" Scott (VA-03), RaúlGrijalva (AZ-03) and Alma Adams (NC-12) celebrated the House Education and Labor Committee's markup of H.R. 2193, the Asunción Valdivia Heat Illness and Fatality Prevention Act, which would establish a federal standard for heat stress protections against occupational exposure to excessive heat.

Washington, D.C. — Today, the House passed H.R. 8373, the Right to Contraception Act, which will federally protect the right for Americans nationwide to access contraception. In the wake of the Supreme Court's recent decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, a precedent has been set for the same Court to next overturn Griswold v. Connecticut, a 1965 landmark decision which protects the freedom to use contraceptives without government interference.
