Washington, DC – Today, both President Barack Obama and Vice President-elect Mike Pence addressed their respective parties in Congress to discuss the future of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Rep. Judy Chu (CA-27) spoke on the floor of the House about a resident of the San Gabriel Valley with a preexisting condition who was able to find treatment thanks to the ACA. Rep. Chu's remarks are below:

Washington, DC – Today, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Jeh Johnson delivered a response to a December 5th letter sent by 110 Members of Congress calling on President Obama to protect the private information of those who applied for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals.
Washington, DC – Today, the House of Representatives approved of the rules for the 115th Congress by a vote of 234-193. The package, drafted by House Republicans, introduced a number of new rules, including a budget waiver to make it easier to repeal the Affordable Care Act and a decorum provision requiring fines against Members who use electronic photography or broadcasting from the House Floor.
Washington, DC – Today, it was reported that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is removing regulations pertaining to the National Security Entry-Exit Registration Systems (NSEERS) program, starting tomorrow. The NSEERS program was created after the September 11th attacks as a way to track travelers to and from specific countries.

Washington, DC – Today, the House passed H.R. 2028, a continuing resolution to fund the government until April 28, 2017. The government is scheduled to run out of funding and shutdown on December 9. This continuing resolution funds the government at current Fiscal Year 2016 levels for all government operations, with a .1901% across the board cut to both defense and nondefense accounts.
Washington, DC – Today, the House passed S. 612, the Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation (WIIN) Act. This bill authorizes water resources development projects and authorizes funding to address the Flint water crisis and other health threats associated with lead and other contaminants in public drinking water systems. Under this bill, Los Angeles, California will receive $373.4 million for ecosystem restoration on the Los Angeles River, and Flint, Michigan will receive $170 million in authorization for the drinking water crisis.
Washington, DC – Today, Reps. Judy Chu (CA-27) and Lamar Smith (TX-21) introduced the Fairness for American Small Creators Act, a bill to create a small claims system within the Copyright Office. The small claims system is intended to help individual artists and creators more easily pursue copyright infringement claims, many of which of are for $3,000 or less. Rep. Chu is the founder and co-chair of the Creative Rights Caucus and serves with Rep.
Washington, DC – Today, 111 Members of Congress sent a letter to President Obama requesting that he take action to protect the names and private information of those who enrolled in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. The letter, led by Reps. Judy Chu (CA-27), Zoe Lofgren (CA-29), Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-40), Raul Grijalva (AZ-03), and Luis Gutierrez (IL-04), specifically suggests an Executive Order that would prohibit the use of DACA enrollees’ information for purposes other than originally intended, including for purposes of deportation.
