Rep. Chu Announces $125,000 in American Rescue Plan Grants for Humanities Projects in the San Gabriel Valley

PASADENA, CA — This week, the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) announced $125,000 in grants supporting cultural and educational efforts in the San Gabriel Valley through the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Humanities Grantmaking program. The recipients in California's 27th district are Sophea Seng of the Association for Asian Studies, and Elizabeth Ai and Kathy Huang of the Sundance Institute.

"I was thrilled to hear about the awarding of these grants to individuals in our district! The passage of the American Rescue Plan allowed us to take critical steps to boost communities all across our nation toward economic recovery as we emerge from the pandemic," said Rep. Judy Chu (CA-27). "The arts and humanities industries have been some of the hardest-hit over the past couple years and I have been working hard from the very beginning to ensure that professionals in these industries can continue contributing to the culture and economy of the San Gabriel Valley. These grants are going to do just that — while further bolstering educational endeavors benefiting our entire community."
