White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders announced today that President Trump has once again invited families who lost a loved one in a crime committed by an immigrant to be his guests at the State of the Union. These guests are a part of his anti-immigrant campaign, despite statistics that immigrants are more law abiding and less violent than native-born individuals. Rep. Judy Chu (CA-27), who invited a Dreamer to be her guest to the State of the Union, released the following statement:
Rep. Judy Chu (CA-27) has invited Jung Bin Cho, a 23-year old Dreamer, to be her official guest at President Trump's State of the Union scheduled for January 30th. Jung Bin Cho's family emigrated to the U.S. from Korea in 2001 with the hope of attaining the American Dream for their children. Thanks to DACA, Jung Bin was able to work and save money that allowed him to graduate from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor's of Science in Business Information Technology. Rep. Washington, D.C.— Today, a bipartisan group of Representatives introduced the USA Act, a bill to provide legal status to Dreamers while providing more resources for border security and immigration courts. Prior to their consideration, Rep. Judy Chu (CA-27) called for comprehensive action to not only keep the government open, but to also fund the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), answer the President's call for a solution for undocumented immigrants, and adequately meet the needs of all areas hit by natural disasters this year, including California, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. Washington, DC – This afternoon, U.S. Capitol Police arrested 182 individuals outside of the U.S. Capitol, including Rep. Judy Chu (CA-27). The arrests came after a rally and march to the Capitol where thousands called for a vote on the DREAM Act. Rep. Chu, who was charged with "crowding, obstructing, or incommoding", was processed and released and has issued the following statement:

Judy Chu (CA-27) and Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT), have each introduced companion bills in the House and Senate to block the implementation of President Trump's executive order blocking travel from majority Muslim countries. The bills, H.R. 4271 and S. 1979, would prohibit the use of any funds or fees to implement Executive Order 13780, signed on March 6, 2017.
Washington, DC – On Monday, the Department of Homeland Security announced that they would be ending Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for 59,000 Haitians currently living in the United States. The order gives the Haitians until July 22, 2019 to self-deport. Rep. Judy Chu (CA-27) released the following statement:
