Washington, D.C. – Today, the U.S. House of Representatives voted 364-62 to pass the COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act introduced by Senator Mazie Hirono (D-HI) and Rep. Grace Meng (NY-06). The bill, which passed the Senate by a vote of 94-1 in April, will help to address the alarming surge in anti-Asian violence that has occurred throughout the COVID-19 pandemic by improving hate crime tracking and reporting and providing resources to victims of hate crimes.

WASHINGTON — U.S. Representatives Judy Chu (CA-27) and Jackie Walorski (IN-2) today re-introduced legislation to ensure breast cancer patients and survivors who have experienced a mastectomy are able to access custom breast prosthetics under Medicare. The Breast Cancer Patient Equity Act would provide coverage for custom fabricated breast prostheses, the only human body part not currently covered by Medicare, to the more than 144,000 women who undergo mastectomies annually.

May 10th has been recognized as Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Mental Health Day in the State of California since 2010, but is not a federally recognized day yet.

This bill would update the saver's tax credit into a saver's match – a federal matching contribution to middle and low income working Americans who contribute to a retirement savings account, whether they save at work through an employer-sponsored plan or on their own through an IRA.
