WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Rep. Judy Chu (CA-27), voted to pass the Paycheck Protection Program and Health Care Enhancement Act. This bill would increase appropriations for the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) from $349 billion to $670.355 billion, including $310 billion for loans. It establishes a set-aside of $30 billion specifically for community banks and smaller lenders with between $10 billion and $50 billion in assets and an additional $30 billion for institutions with less than $10 billion.

The stimulus checks were passed by Congress on March 27, 2020, as part of the CARES Act, to help all Americans weather the economic slowdown.

The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act authorized $25 million for the SBA to provide in-language services to be made available immediately.

This $2 trillion bill is the third relief package passed by Congress in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The bill includes $200 billion for hospitals, health systems, and health research, including funding for personal protective equipment (PPE).

WASHINGTON, DC — On this day in 2010, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) was signed into law by President Barack Obama. Since going into effect, the ACA has saved 20 million Americans from having to go without health insurance. In California, 3,999,239 Californians gained insurance thanks to the ACA, a reduction of 61% of the uninsured population. But all of this success is threatened by the lawsuit Texas v. U.S., which is backed by the Trump Administration, which would strike down the entire ACA if successful. Rep.
