WASHINGTON, DC – Last week, as part of Mental Health Awareness Month, Representative Judy Chu (CA-27) and Senator Jon Tester (D-MT) introduced H.R. 2958, the Increasing Access to Mental Health in Schools Act. This legislation would establish a grant program to increase the number of mental health professionals at low income schools by supporting partnerships between institutions of higher education and local education agencies to support teaching, training, and employment of school counselors, social workers, and psychologists.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Sunday, May 26, another horse died racing at Santa Anita racetrack. The horse was the 26th to die racing or training at Santa Anita since December 26, and the third in nine days. Rep. Under current law, the IRS has the authority to postpone certain filing deadlines in the event of a presidentially declared disaster.

Washington, DC — The Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) today officially opened the San Gabriel Valley Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC), the first Veterans clinic in the San Gabriel Valley in over eight years. The SGV CBOC, located at 7 West Foothill Boulevard in Arcadia, will offer Veterans access to primary care, mental health care, telehealth, and basic laboratory services on an interim basis for the next three to five years until a larger, full-service clinic in the San Gabriel Valley is completed. Washington, DC — The House of Representatives today passed H.R. 2157, the Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2019, which provides $19.1 billion in emergency spending to provide disaster relief. The emergency relief in this bill would assist California in recovering from the recent wildfires, including emergency watershed protection, Bureau of Reclamation fire remediation and suppression assistance, National Park Service construction funding, Safe Drinking Water Act funding for facility repairs, and behavioral health treatment and crisis counseling for victims.
